I
I spent the day in Tucson, Arizona learning how to build a strawbale wall. I doubt I will ever build an entire strawbale house but I do plan to put a 1/2 wall or 2 on around the patio I am building. Though strawbale construction can be used in any part of the country it is definitely a material that should be utilized more in the Southwest or parts of the midwest, like Nebraska, because of the lack of timber. The bales were placed on a cement foundation, reinforced with rebar and bamboo and finally, cemented together with an earth/clay mixture. Here is the almost final wall. It still needs a 2nd coat of mud to even it out a bit and a coat of natural paint.
