Down on the Urban Barge Update

OK I hear you. You want pics...so here you go.

First though this is an incredible project. The barge itself is resource neutral in that it produces all of it's own power with Photovoltaics and biodeisel. Plus it catches rainwater and filters the hudson river water for use onboard, and the heating for the greenhouse is done with a waste oil burning heater. How cool is that. Now onto the pictures.

The entry plate of the barge explaining the different components.

And some great tomatos...

One of the best things about the barge ....... they bring kids through and teach them where their food comes from.

Dave Dibble:

Doh - here is the link to the Science Barge. Sorry http://www.nysunworks.com/

The oil burner they had on he barge was a commercially built one. I don't have information on building your own. I know the one they had was super efficient and nonpolluting.

Do you happen to have a link to the science barge? We have a house where some renters left used oil from their cars and I was interested in making a low use oil heater, and the greenhouse heater you mentioned seemed like a good place to start. Are there plans to build one?
