I am really blessed living in Boulder...I work outdoors all day in a near cloudless blue sky and get to bike all around town. Biking is really important to me. When I am in a car, not only am I polluting and burning fossil fuels and precious money, I am also restricted in how much I can interact with my environment. By biking, I have the ability to smell the air, feel the breeze and not have my view limited to the perimeter of the windows. Plus, my bikeride to work is along the Boulder Creek Bike Path so I get to see the gorgeous (!) Boulder Creek flowing and can even go swimming if I want.
Plain and simple, Boulder is beautiful--the community, the environment, the Republic. I feel blessed to live in a city that values all three of these things and offers its residents a plethora of easy ways to go green. Coincidentally, my bike route to/from work takes me down a beautiful street that is home to the Boulder Farmers Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. I have been to a lot of different farmers market and joined CSAs, but I am very impressed with Boulders. The street is packed and there are atleast 100 local vendors and entertainers, including 20+ local organic farms. The energy at the market is unreal...it is so nice to see people outside, interacting, and enjoy the goods things (ie good food, music, yada yada). In addition, it has provided me with a place to meet people with similar interests and values. I even met a permie! (Definition: permaculturist).
I always get the warm fuzzies when I am riding my bike and am reminded at how wonderfully powerful a community can be. I love the energy, the vibes. Support your local community. Get involved.
