Hi All,
Now this is a great example of Yoga Beyond the Mat! I spoke with Ian and 93% of the profit goes directly to the foundation. Check it out tomorrow evening at the At One Yoga Scottsdale location. If you can't make it you can still donate. Call 602-954-9642 to find out how you can support this great cause and make a difference. Remember that we are all connected.
Hari Om,

Proceeds will go to "KoZon." KoZon is an acronym, indicating "Cooking with Solar Energy."
KoZon's aim is to provide women in developing countries with the cheapest technique for cooking with solar energy. The focus is on countries in the Sahelian zone of West Africa. The target group is women who cook meals daily on a wood or charcoal fire.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations estimates that about three billion people - that's half the world's population - currently cook their daily meals on a wood or charcoal fire. In a West African country such as Burkina Faso, this is the case for 90% of the population.
The increasing consumption of wood is making this commodity scarcer, especially in arid and semi arid regions such as the Sahelian zone of Africa. Here, because people have to go further afield to find suitable firewood, or have to pay high prices for it, children are increasingly being mobilized to collect this essential commodity. This leads to increasing poverty, less education for children, potentially adverse effects on health, and damage to nature and the environment in the form of deforestation and desertification. One way to combat the negative effects at household level is to use solar energy for cooking, thus reducing the dependence on expensive wood fuel.
