Tip : Plastic freaks me out, so for years I've been drinking out of glass bottles. I buy them once and re-use them. (Glass juice jars are perfect for this too!) Simple and easy and water tastes better!

Tip : After I steam vegetables, I let the water in the pan cool and then toss it out into the yard or use it to water house plants.

Tip : I reuse the glass wine bottles I cook with,(think large openings) and turn them into coin storage/banks. We also paint them to be reused as water pitchers or koolaid containers as well as gifts.

Tip : Since I don't have recycling in my area, I save all my bottles etc. and take them to my daughter's bin when I go. The newspapers go to the local school. Food scraps that would go into a trash, I use for making compost

Tip : I carry my own utensils. Actually I found lots of great options at a camping store. The one I use is a spork style polycarb utensil. With this always in my purse I don't use disposable utensils.

Tip : I have a tote bag that folds up and fits into a matching little bag that I carry in my small purse to take home unexpected purchases in. Every time I use it I unpack it immediately to put it back in my purse so I always know where it is.

Tip : I purchased a package of cloth diapers and I use those to clean, well anything, instead of using those disposable wipes from Lysol and/or Clorox. When they get dirty I just throw them in the wash (cold H2O of course) and line dry!

Tip : Many fast food places use styrofoam cups. Keep a reusuable cup with you and ask these places to pour the drink in there instead of using their cups.

Tip : We stopped using saran wrap, sandwich bags, gallon size storage bags and aluminum foil. Instead, we use the bags from inside cereal boxes which work great in the microwave to reheat and reduce splatters. We also use them for storing food items etc. To cut down on foil use, we went to a restaurant supply store and bought a 9x13 steel pan with metal lid for baking casseroles in the oven.
